This morning, our house is eerily quiet. My sister and her family slipped out before the sunrise, cousins lugging blankets and heavy backpacks, piles of coats and boots, opened gifts and empty cookie tins, all back on the road heading home. I'm feeling a bit sad, but overall I feel more like this quote: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss
The kiddos are rich; their new wealth of Playmobil and Legos abundant. Santa was exceptional to all of us this year, but our true wealth is not in the gifts - it is in the cups of coffee with a splash of eggnog shared around the kitchen island, the making of snowballs and silly string chasing, sledding, making meals together and bottles of wine shared, card games late into the night, smiles on faces and warm hearts.
Perhaps I say it too much but we are very blessed and I am very grateful.
Now, a new year is right around the corner. So much to look forward to, so much to do. I'm looking forward to sharing bits and pieces with you as I bring my thoughts and ideas to fruition. Thank you for being here. Thank you for each and every comment - they warm my heart and fuel me to keep this space alive and well.
Grateful and blessed, yes!
