{this moment} from the archives! And still time to get in on the giveaway!

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
Inspired by SouleMama

Sully was 14 months old in this photograph; Theo was 3.

In early December I started a new project.  After the boys went to bed at night I'd pour a glass of wine, grab my notebook and pen, and open every photo file I have saved.  With fresh eyes and a new perspective, I viewed each and every photo.  So many of them went to the "trash".  Flowers and shots of the natural world, so many, too many.  Kiddo shots that didn't work out.  Almost everything I've done to date that has food in it.  My intention for this project and what I was looking for was my work that I think is really good, my work that I really love for the depth of "story", the light, the angles and lines.  As I came across these photos I brought each one back to its original image and then edited all over again.  What I have now is a notebook full of dates and named photographs.  Lists of what is in black and white and what is in color (more black and white these days for me!)  Now I'm in the process of working each and every one of these photos into a new "big girl" website where there will be things like client proofing and package options which offer professional printing.

When I started this adventure photographing for others, I promised myself one thing.  I would take my time and really figure it out - the way I felt meeting people I did not know, the way I felt photographing people I did not know - would I be able to capture the soul of the moment not just for my own kiddos but for others?  And in all ways, as I find a comfortable place in my business zone, what would this really cost?

I suspected I would fall in love with this process and I did, indeed.  With that focus and intention I'm moving forward.  My new website should be up and running in the next two weeks.  If you live in and around Denver and happen to really like my photography, perhaps you can help me spread the word.

My project for 2012 is to do something with all the pictures I take of my children. It all starts with the delete button ;o)
wishing you good luck on your journey
